Section B4 - From Brixen/Bressanone to Bruneck/Brunico

The penultimate section of option B of the South Tyrol Cycle Path leaves Brixen/Bressanone to lead in the direction of Franzensfeste fortress, past Vahrner See lake. Shortly before the impressive fortress, the route heads east towards the idyllic green countryside of the Pustertal Valley. This carries on along the Pustertal Valley Cycle Path past the ruins of Mühlbacher Klause and Ehrenburg-Casteldarne to the pearl of the Pustertal Valley: Bruneck/Brunico.

The splendid cathedral town of Brixen/Bressanone dates back to 901 and is one of the most ancient towns in Tyrol. There are lots of interesting sights, such as the 'Weisser Turm' (White Tower), the cathedral and the Bishop's Palace, which was the episcopal see of the diocese of Brixen/Bressanone until 1973.

Bruneck/Brunico is a lively town with a range of bars and restaurants and the mood there is cheerful and easy-going. The local landmark mountain is Kronplatz, the best-known ski resort in South Tyrol.
